The Sloped Yard Retaining Walls with Patio / Firepit is an original by H2O-Matic Outdoor Creations and the proud professionals transforming properties in Charlotte, Concord, Enochville, Harrisburg, Kannapolis and Landis. The was an effort to provide a homeowner a pleasing outdoor experience and visually expanded conduciveness to outdoor functions at their sloping yard. Our skilled crew first observed the distinct topographical qualities of the property and then planned for the necessary retaining walls to ensure maturity of the soil and create horizontal planes. We built functional and visually pleasing retaining walls, using locally sourced high-grade natural stone to ensure both structural stability and visual integration with surrounding nature. The colors and texture of the stone worked so well with the landscape that not much maintenance would be needed for many years to come. The river partway up the mountain provided a challenge, because the slope of the land is a little steep, that water runoff is an issue. We installed an effective drainage system to direct the water from the retaining walls to avoid any additional erosion. Such function gave the landscape a survival mechanism agains heavy rainy days to stay green and alvive. As a solution to create an outdoor experience with seating, we installed a sizable patio space right next to the retaining walls and a firepit centered in that space. We blended steel grey and tan color pavers throughout the outdoor area that match the house and the weather resistant nature of the pavers create a seamless space from the house to the outdoor area. This became the gathering point, where family and friends would come together to share stories and spend cool evenings around the firepit, with custom built seating intimately surrounding it. What we ended up with, was absolutely stunning. The end result pleased the client who now has an outdoor space they can show off to their friends instead of a tiny yard that no one had any real use for! This added a well-integrated patio with a firepit, gave them functional retaining walls, and provided further market value to their property.
