About This Project

Edible Landscape Design Miami Knoll Landscape Design Miami is excited to introduce our latest undertaking, the Edible Landscape Design Miami . This meaningful dramatically altered outdoor spaces in our beautiful neighborhoods of Coral Gables, Cutler Bay, Cutler Ridge, Hialeah, Kendall, Miami, Miami Beach, Palmetto Bay, Palmetto Estates, Pinecrest, South Miami Heights, and The Crossings. Fusing beauty and utility, we employed the concept of edible landscaping by employing edible plants with traditional landscape designs to create a sustainable and stunning outdoor space. We began with a detailed site assessment to understand the microclimates and soil conditions at each location and ensure that the plants would thrive. We collaboratively selected a palette of native and tropical fruit-bearing trees, herbs, and vegetables; including mango, avocado, and rosemary that enhances the landscapes’ appearance while providing clients with fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs. A significant planning consideration we grappled with was how to pod deal with the severe summer rain common in Miami. To address this, we employed well-draining raised beds with intentionally placed rain gardens, which prevent erosion and encourage healthy root systems in the edible plants. We also added drip irrigation systems to ensure efficient water usage so clients are not overwatering or under-watering their plants. The landscape design’s outcome is a vibrant landscape that motivates clients to step outside. Clients are better able to explore pathways made of locally sourced, eco-friendly materials that flow through garden beds seamlessly. The outcome is not only beautiful, but usable, as clients enjoy fresh edibles backyard retirement or outdoors. The client feedback was overwhelmingly complimentary, noting how wonderful it felt to integrate edibles to landscape and cultivate their food experiences.
