Drought-Tolerant Landscapes by Lytle Landscape Construction Sustainable landscaping is critical to the health of our beautiful but thirsty parts of Southern California such as Aliso Viejo, Laguna Beach and Rancho Santa Margarita and at Lytle Landscape Construction we know why. One such , the "Drought Tolerant Landscapes," serves to highlight our dedication to artistry, quality craftsmanship and environmental sustainability. The work behind this transformative included an extensive redesign of what the residential property used to look like, but that included replacing traditional lawns with a beautiful spread of native plants and xeriscaping techniques. It showcased functional, aesthetic elements, from colorful succulents and ornamental grasses to boulders placed in purposeful angles. Drought-resistant materials such as decomposed granite pathways, gravel mulch and drought-tolerant planting, were used to retain water and provide an inviting environment. Amongst the challenges faced was the inability of the site to be leveled, causing some innovative grading methods successful in not only controlling runoff but also enabling plant growth on the site. To navigate these challenges, our skilled team utilized advanced landscaping techniques to ensure a seamless integration between hardscapes and softscapes. The end result was an incredible landscape that saved up to 50% more water, but became an outside place for the homeowners to relax and enjoy. Needless to say, the client was delighted with their new oasis that is pretty eco-friendly even while being a double whammy to the eyes.
