The design for Roberta’s new Los Angeles location showcases a striking interpretation of geometry, drawing inspiration from the familiar shape of a pizza slice. Every major design element throughout the restaurant pays tribute to this triangular motif, creating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere. The bar ceiling features a unique folding design that echoes the theme, while custom furniture enhances the overall aesthetic. The tile work, hanging stick lights, and most notably, the innovative use of custom concrete and metal breeze blocks, add depth and character to the space. Studio Jesse James reimagined the traditional application of breeze blocks, transforming them from mere partition walls into a dynamic design feature that gracefully wraps around the walls and ceilings. This approach not only enhances the visual appeal but also fosters an airy ambiance that encourages social interaction. The breeze blocks are a remarkable combination of over 650 hand-poured concrete pieces and bespoke aluminum composite designs, some of which include integrated light boxes that illuminate the space in an inviting manner. The natural grey tones of the breeze blocks serve as a sophisticated backdrop, allowing the vibrant accents throughout the restaurant to shine. These colorful elements, thoughtfully integrated into the design, complement the overall aesthetic and draw the eye, creating a lively yet relaxed dining experience. The outdoor patio further extends this concept, offering a contemporary space that invites guests to enjoy their meals in a beautifully designed environment. With a project cost ranging from $750,001 to $1,000,000, the craftsmanship evident in Roberta’s Restaurant reflects a commitment to quality and innovation.
