About This Project

The Walnut Kitchen project represents a stunning transformation of a mid-century rancher into a modern Cape Cod-style home, showcasing the perfect blend of sophistication and functionality. Originally characterized by an outdated 80's aesthetic with pickled oak cabinets and an awkwardly angled peninsula, this kitchen underwent a complete renovation that not only enhanced its visual appeal but also increased its usability. Collaborating with Sterling Kitchens, we meticulously designed a space that radiates warmth and elegance. The design choice of rich black walnut cabinets serves as a striking focal point, bringing depth and drama to the kitchen while complementing the abundant natural light pouring in from the Pella casement windows in the adjoining family room. The dark cabinetry is beautifully contrasted by the pristine white countertops, crafted from durable Luna Quartzite, providing a modern touch that keeps the overall ambiance light and airy. The addition of marble penny tiles for the backsplash adds a layer of texture and visual interest, ensuring that the kitchen remains inviting without feeling overwhelming. This contemporary u-shaped layout not only maximizes the functional space but also integrates seamlessly with the home’s overall aesthetic. The inclusion of an island enhances the kitchen's usability, making it a perfect gathering spot for family and friends. Stainless steel appliances further elevate the kitchen's modern appeal, ensuring that it is equipped for both everyday meals and entertaining.
