The clients had a particular vision in mind thus the started with an extensive preliminary consultation in order to get acquainted with the wants and needs of the clients in terms of their aesthetic orientation and lifestyle. To accommodate multi-functional outdoor space, a great use of locally sourced bluestone provides an elegant foundation for dining and entertaining areas in the form of a beautiful stone patio. Seating walls constructed out of natural stone were added to provide comfort plus an effortless transition into the garden beds that envelop this area. We also added a calming water feature-soothing sounds go from the water cascading over rocks to help set more of a retreat ambiance. To create an engaged seasonal xeriscape around the water feature, we implemented a diverse palette of native and ornamental grasses to develop an colorful, low-maintenance landscape. We went for better materials, including weather-resistant wood for the deck and more sophisticated outdoor lighting fixtures to give the place a nice atmosphere in the evenings. The slope of the yard was one challenge we had to work through, with grading and retaining walls to establish level areas in which to construct the patio and garden. Our team carefully maneuvered through these challenges to maintain aesthetics and functionality throughout the design. The end product is a beautiful backyard getaway that is everything our customers hoped for.
