The Grand Rapids Basement Finishing project, initiated in early 2018, transformed a moderate-sized basement into a functional and stylish living space, showcasing the perfect blend of craftsmanship and innovative design. This comprehensive renovation began with the removal of an existing closet to create an open and inviting atmosphere. The team expertly framed and insulated the exterior walls, ensuring energy efficiency while enhancing the overall comfort of the space. A significant feature of the project was the removal of a center wall, which was replaced with a LAM Beam, allowing for a spacious, open layout ideal for family gatherings and entertainment. To further enhance functionality, a separate access point to the utility room was established, alongside the creation of a unique Hobbit storage space under the stairs and a cooler room, catering to both practical storage needs and whimsical design elements. The design also included the addition of a grounding wall for the couch, topped with a solid surface bar that seamlessly integrates with the overall aesthetic. A solid surface dry bar complements this feature, creating an inviting area for socializing. Built-in entertainment units and bookshelves were meticulously crafted to provide stylish storage while maintaining the room's clean lines and sophisticated appeal. A hidden storage space with a concealed corner door adds an element of surprise and clever design. To enhance warmth and comfort, plush carpets were installed throughout the space, while drop ceilings and can lighting were added to create an inviting ambiance. The project also included the framing of an additional 10 x 12 bedroom and closet in a nearby basement area, offering even more versatility to the home.
