Our team was given a chance to refresh a residential property that was in need of both functional and aesthetic updates, and create a peaceful outdoor area that harmonizes with the nature around it. This included heavy renovation of both front and back yards, and the design utilized a carefully planned combination of native plants, floated plants, ornamental trees, and a variety of perennials to ensure color and texture, year-round. The materials selected included hardscape, like paths made of natural stone and retaining walls made by hand, durable to weather, and locally sourced for both aesthetic and structural considerations. The major challenge we overcame was the property’s slopped terrain and existing drainage issues. Our team designed and incorporated a site-wide drainage system to include French drains and polite grading of the site. This system addressed existing drainage issues while improving the health of the new gardens. This resulted in an outstanding outdoor, amenity, gathering space, particularly patio space, along with a lush lawn to play in. The carefully positioned soft landscape lighting brought features of the plantings to life at night, enhancing the special wonder of the space. The client shared how impressed everyone has been when they visited, and while they appreciated the original curb appeal, it was this particular amenity space that brought them a peaceful place to gather as a family.
