The Welcoming and Bold Front Door project, located in Cary, IL, showcases a comprehensive transformation that enhances both the aesthetic appeal and structural integrity of the home’s exteri. Initiated in 2018, this project was meticulously designed to create a striking first impression while ensuring durability against the elements. The total investment for this revitalization fell within the cost range of $7,501 to $10,000, reflecting the quality craftsmanship and materials utilized throughout the process. The project began with an extensive pressure washing of the entire exterior, effectively removing all mold and mildew that had accumulated over time. This initial step was crucial in preparing the surfaces for further enhancements. Following the wash, all loose and peeling stain spots were carefully scraped, and bare wood was primed to ensure optimal adhesion of new finishes. Attention to detail was paramount; as a result, all windows, doors, siding, and trim were meticulously caulked where cracks were present, creating a tight seal against moisture intrusion. To address the structural concerns, the team filled woodpecker holes and knot holes, ensuring that the wood was properly sealed and protected. The siding and trim were treated to two coats of high-quality stain, resulting in a vibrant and uniform finish that enriches the traditional exterior charm of the home. In addition to the staining, significant carpentry work was performed, including the removal and replacement of the garage access door, along with the brick mold. The project also involved the replacement of four warped and cracked siding boards in the front and the renewal of three second-story soffits, which further improved the home’s appearance and functionality. Finally, 3 to 4 feet of soffit ceiling plywood was replaced to complete the revitalization.
