About This Project

Ladera is a stunning six-thousand-square-foot residence situated on an ocean-view acre in Santa Barbara, CA. This project encompassed a comprehensive remodel and expansion of the original home, which was thoughtfully designed to enhance both functionality and aesthetics. One of the primary challenges was the original layout, which placed the master bedroom at the rear of the property, resulting in a disconnection from the breathtaking ocean views. To address this, we relocated the master suite to the second floor, where it now boasts an expansive balcony offering dramatic vistas of the coastline, creating a serene retreat. The heart of the home underwent a significant transformation with the relocation of the kitchen and family rooms to the lower level. This strategic move established a seamless connection to the outdoor pool terrace, integrating indoor and outdoor living spaces and maximizing the enjoyment of the stunning southern views. The design choices reflect a contemporary Mediterranean style, characterized by warm tones and inviting spaces. An intimate morning terrace was also added off the kitchen and dining areas to the east, providing a perfect spot for leisurely breakfasts while basking in the gentle morning light. Throughout the project, high-quality materials were selected to enhance the overall design. The bathrooms feature elegant Tuscan-inspired 3/4 marble floors, complemented by custom furniture-like cabinets painted in crisp white. The master bath, in particular, exemplifies luxurious living, featuring a one-piece toilet, an integrated sink, and a hinged shower door that harmonizes functionality with style. The use of beige walls and white countertops creates an airy, sophisticated ambiance, making the space feel both spacious and inviting. The outcome of the Ladera project is a harmonious blend of modern living and Mediterranean elegance, providing not only an exquisite home but also a sanctuary that fully embraces its breathtaking surroundings. This remodel perfectly captures the essence of California coastal living, offering an exceptional experience for its residents.
