About This Project

The Black Pinstripe Re-Face project transformed an existing oak kitchen into a modern, sophisticated space that beautifully balances style and functionality. The scope of this project involved refacing the existing cabinetry, a cost-effective solution that allowed the homeowner to achieve a fresh look without the need to replace the backsplash, countertops, or flooring. Custom-made recessed paneled doors and drawer fronts were crafted to enhance the kitchen’s overall aesthetic, while new soft-close hinges were installed to provide a smooth and quiet operation. In addition to the striking new doors, the project included the installation of drawer fronts on new dovetailed maple drawer boxes, equipped with full-extension, soft-close drawer slides. This thoughtful upgrade not only improved the functionality of the cabinetry but also ensured a seamless user experience. The design team made strategic alterations to some cabinet boxes to create more efficient door and drawer configurations, maximizing storage potential and accessibility. The finish selected for the cabinetry was Sherwin-Williams Pacer White, providing a crisp and clean backdrop. To add a unique visual element, a custom black pinstripe was meticulously applied to all doors and drawer fronts, infusing the space with depth and character. Complementing this design feature, matte black hardware was chosen to echo the black pinstripe and harmonize with the existing island countertop, creating a cohesive look throughout the kitchen. To further enhance the kitchen’s appearance, applied panels were added around the island and to all exposed cabinet ends, delivering a polished and finished aesthetic. The Black Pinstripe Re-Face project not only rejuvenated the kitchen’s overall design but also exemplified thoughtful craftsmanship and attention to detail, resulting in a transitional space that is both inviting and functional. This successful renovation not only met the client’s vision but also set a new standard for kitchen design in Grand Rapids.
