The Nolan Pool House is a stunning architectural achievement that harmoniously integrates with its hillside setting in Tiburon, CA. Designed to be nestled and terraced into the natural slope of the landscape, this pool house is positioned 10 feet above the main residence, allowing for breathtaking views while maintaining a seamless connection to the surrounding environment. The project's objectives were carefully considered to create a serene retreat adjacent to the pool, encompassing a mechanical room for all pool equipment, ample storage, and a dedicated bathroom for convenience and comfort. The design approach employed a series of terraces and retaining walls that not only enhance the aesthetic appeal but also reflect the natural terrain. By pushing the pool house further back into the hillside, we successfully emulated the enchanting wine caves of Sonoma, minimizing the visual impact on the pool terrace and the hillside itself. This thoughtful placement ensures the structure complements the landscape while providing a functional space for relaxation and entertainment. Materials selected for the construction reflect a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship and sustainability. A large timber design pergola gracefully extends over the pool area, providing shade and enhancing the outdoor experience. The pool house features ventilating facade walls that allow for natural airflow, promoting a comfortable atmosphere throughout the seasons. The roof garden adds an additional layer of elegance, blending the structure with its surroundings and encouraging biodiversity.
