About This Project

The Vernon River New View project transformed a traditional home in Savannah, Georgia, into a modern oasis that fully embraces its stunning natural surroundings. Initially, the client sought to remove a 30-foot section of wall to create a more open kitchen and convert the old dining room into a dedicated piano room. Upon visiting the property, however, it became clear that the true potential of the home lay in its breathtaking view of the Vernon River, which was obstructed by an outdated fireplace occupying the back wall. Recognizing the opportunity to enhance the living space significantly, the design team proposed replacing the fireplace with a large picture window, allowing for an unobstructed view of the river. This decision marked the beginning of a comprehensive remodeling project that encompassed nearly every aspect of the home, excluding the bedrooms, which retained their original charm. The design choices throughout the project focused on modern aesthetics while maintaining a warm, inviting atmosphere. High-quality materials were selected to ensure durability and elegance, including sleek cabinetry in the kitchen, contemporary fixtures, and tasteful finishes that complement the home’s overall style. The open layout now allows for seamless interaction between the kitchen, dining, and newly created piano room, making it an ideal setting for entertaining guests or enjoying quiet family moments. Craftsmanship was paramount in this renovation, with skilled artisans executing every detail to perfection—from custom cabinetry to the installation of the expansive window that now serves as a focal point of the living space.
