In the heart of Irving, Texas, a stunning contemporary kitchen has emerged, meticulously designed for a couple of empty nesters seeking a space that balances functionality with artistic flair. Led by Shylo Preston, KBD of The Kitchen Source, the project aimed to create a vibrant and inviting environment, showcasing the homeowners' passion for local artistry and bold colors. The design features a captivating custom backsplash crafted by Oceanside Glass, celebrated for its robust reds and yellows, which serves as a focal point in the kitchen. Complementing this artwork, a striking glass bar by Coyote Glass enhances the kitchen island, providing a distinctive area for informal gatherings. The bar's Starfire glass, intricately carved and beautifully painted with a metallic backing, adds both elegance and a touch of sophistication. Surrounding the island are stylish stools from Cattelan Italia, made from faux leather and polished steel, paired with dining chairs from Lazar and a table by Modern Furniture Classics, all carefully selected by interior designer Tonia Coleman of Le Belle Maison Interiors. To further enhance the artistic atmosphere, Preston installed pendant icicle lights by LBL above the island, resembling a sculptural installation that draws the eye. Practicality is equally prioritized in this kitchen, featuring Baja quartz countertops from Caesarstone and porcelain floor tiles from Happy Floors’ Kaleido collection, arranged in an ashlar pattern for a refined look. The cherry cabinetry from Wood-Mode Custom Cabinetry’s Brookhaven line, stained in Fireside, not only offers durability but also includes functional elements like rollout drawers and appliance garages. The original windows flanking the Wolf range are elegantly framed with cherry wood, ensuring that the design respects the home's existing architecture. The result is a harmonious blend of beauty and functionality, culminating in a truly artistic kitchen that reflects the personality and lifestyle of its owners, making it an ideal space for both culinary endeavors and social gatherings.
