About This Project

In the Bill's Kitchen project, we transformed a functional yet outdated space into a stylish and practical area that meets the client's needs. The primary focus was to address the existing step-down into the laundry room by rebuilding a portion of the kitchen flo. To ensure durability and a seamless transition, we installed lauan plywood over the existing sheet vinyl flo. For areas that presented unevenness, we employed a floor leveler to create a smooth and stable surface, effectively enhancing the overall integrity of the flooring. Understanding the client's request for a waterproof solution, we chose luxury vinyl plank (LVP) as the ideal flooring material. LVP not only offers aesthetic appeal with its farmhouse design but also provides the waterproof qualities necessary for a kitchen environment. To complete the flooring installation, we meticulously added quarter round trim, ensuring a polished finish that ties the entire look together. As part of the renovation, we removed the base cabinets and countertop throughout the kitchen, including the sink base; however, the client decided to reuse the existing sink, allowing for continuity in the design. A key aspect of the project was the incorporation of a tall utility cabinet in the stove area. Given the presence of a 30" bulkhead above this area, we carefully evaluated fire safety and electrical outlet placement, leading to the decision to remove the bulkhead for both safety and aesthetic reasons. The craftsmanship demonstrated throughout this project reflects our commitment to quality and attention to detail. The final outcome is a beautifully redesigned kitchen that not only enhances functionality but also complements the farmhouse aesthetic desired by the client. With the combination of modern materials and thoughtful design choices, Bill's Kitchen stands as a testament to how careful planning and execution can create a space that is both inviting and practical.
