The Oyster Point Kitchen Remodel is a transformative project that breathes new life into a once-closed-off kitchen space in Cold Spring, MN. The homeowner cherished the original "U" shape of her kitchen, valuing its functionality, but sought to create a more open and inviting atmosphere that seamlessly connects with the rest of the home. To achieve this, we undertook a complete overhaul of the existing layout, beginning with the removal of all cabinets, allowing us to start anew and maximize the kitchen's potential. One of the key design choices was the elimination of the soffit and upper cabinets above the peninsula, which significantly enhanced visibility and accessibility. This strategic decision opened up the kitchen, making it a more integral part of the living area and ideal for both daily use and entertaining guests. The addition of a buffet cabinet in place of an outdated desk serves as a stylish and functional solution for overflow during gatherings, ensuring that the space remains both practical and elegant. In terms of materials, we transitioned from the traditional oak to a striking rustic hickory that adds warmth and character to the kitchen. The rich tones of the hickory wood harmonize beautifully with the overall design, contributing to a modern yet timeless aesthetic. Each element was carefully selected to reflect the homeowner's taste while ensuring durability and ease of maintenance. The craftsmanship involved in this remodel is evident in the seamless integration of new materials and the attention to detail throughout the project.
