The aimed to enrich and update the outdoor living space at a residential property while providing a lush, sustainable landscape that grows well in the local climate. This was a holistic approach to soil health by analyzing and researching soil amendments and organic fertilizers relied on the sandy soils of Northeast Florida. We reviewed the existing landscape and highlighted areas of depleted soil nutrients and formed a fertilization plan for the slow-release nitrogen source, while providing essential micronutrients. One of the major challenges while reestablishing the landscape body was managing the local wildlife, particularly deer and rabbits, which challenged establishing the young plantings. To manage we started with a plan to incorporate natural deterrence challenges, followed by selecting deer-resistant plantings, allowing for the nature-inspired design while utilizing all fauna in a responsible way. By including a variation of native plants such that Florida-friendly perennial plants, some ornamental grasses, and drought-tolerant shrubs added aesthetic appeal and supported the natural biodiversity plants.Our best management practice adds best practice irrigation for seamless plant watering to maximize water intent while caring for plants in initial establishment. The outcome = "a beautiful transformation" became very apparent and impressive 6 days after "next day" fertilization. Even although it did rain, it was just amazing to see a gorgeous landscape with a rich, green lawn and blooming flowerbed that not only looked great but were "disease resistant pest free".
