The Cheerful Kitchen remodel in Troutdale, Oregon, transformed a dated 1993 space into a vibrant and functional culinary haven. This project was initiated in 2019 and involved a complete overhaul of the kitchen layout, appliances, cabinets, flooring, countertops, and tile. Working alongside Sharon Hocking Interior Design, the vision was to create an inviting atmosphere that balances style with practicality. The new design included a strategic relocation of essential appliances, notably integrating the microwave into the side of the island for seamless access and a clutter-free countertop. This innovative approach not only enhances functionality but also contributes to the kitchen's open, airy feel. The previous oak cabinets were replaced with modern, painted cabinetry that offers increased storage options and features elegant glass-front display shelves, allowing for personal touches and easy access to cherished dishware. A fresh color palette of white and blue was selected to infuse personality and cheerfulness into the space. The white cabinets and backsplash create a clean backdrop, while the blue accents add warmth and charm, inviting family and friends to gather. The choice of stainless steel appliances complements the overall aesthetic, providing a sleek, contemporary look that fits seamlessly with the transitional design style. The flooring was updated to a rich, brown hue, adding depth and contrast to the light cabinetry and countertops.
