About This Project

The Barn Door Repair project at Creekside Stables of Richlands, initiated in 2019, involved a comprehensive restoration of the sliding stall doors, which had suffered significant wear and damage over the years, particularly due to the impacts of Hurricane Katrina. Understanding the importance of these structures for the functionality and safety of the stables, my wife and I, keen equestrians who board our horse at Creekside, felt a deep responsibility to assist in revitalizing these essential elements of the barn. The scope of the project encompassed the repair and enhancement of all sliding stall doors, which were in desperate need of attention. We opted for durable materials that would not only withstand the test of time but also enhance the overall aesthetics of the barn. The selected wood was treated for weather resistance, ensuring longevity and functionality, while also providing a classic farmhouse appeal that complements the rustic charm of the stables. Craftsmanship played a pivotal role in this project. Each door was meticulously repaired, with careful attention to detail in both the structural integrity and the visual design. The hinges and tracks were replaced to ensure smooth operation, while the wood was sanded and stained to bring out its natural beauty, resulting in a warm, inviting finish.
