Sutton Outdoor, LLC is passionate creating beautiful outdoor spaces. Our latest , the Christiansen Backyard, represents our commitment to quality craftsmanship and modern design. Located in the center of Kansas City, this was a complete renovation of an outdated backyard space, creating an inviting setting for family gatherings and quiet evenings under the stars. The includes a large multi-level patio of natural stone, scratch-resistant, high quality stone that is as functional as it is beautiful. The varying levels provided an ample amount of room for entertaining, but also included isolated seating options with custom outdoor furniture design. LED lights were used along the paths and seating area providing warm illumination along the pathways and around the seating in the evening. One of the challenges we had to address was the elevation change of the property. Our team decided to build a series of boulder retaining walls for support while adding a rustic feature to the property. The tiered beds created with the retaining wall are filled with various perennial flowers, selected for their seasonal blooms and low maintenance. Water management was also a top consideration. Our team built a state-of-the-art drainage system to control excess water during intense rains away from the home, ensuring the longevity of all landscaping features in the backyard, while providing a lush and healthy garden at the same time. To complete the renovation, we created a fire pit area surrounded by colorful native plants that attract local wildlife. This area is inviting, encouraging community engagement for family gatherings or evenings with friends. The Christiansen family is thrilled with the final product.
