Our previous , “Past Landscapes,” was located in the wonderful community of Trussville. It was and still is a total landscape redesign of a residential property that provided us with many challenges and an opportunity for creativity. The client’s goal was to create a peaceful and inviting space that would become one with the surrounding nature. Our team initiated this with an on-site investigation into all involved site characteristics from sun exposure, soil conditions, and previous landscape vegetation on the property. With this information, we put together a robust landscape plan populated with a variety of native plants, ornamental shrubs, and colorful flower beds to enhance the overall exterior presence. We used the best products we could find, including stone from a local quarry, to build all of the hardscapes such as pathways and patios not just for aesthetic value but for the life of the structure. We determined a custom paver patio would be the best fit in the backyard, while still providing a seating- and fire-pit area for entertaining or relaxing. Furthermore, we implemented a sustainable irrigation plan that conserves water while still maintaining the beauty of a full canopy of plants. We faced the challenge of sloping lots, and, therefore, we had to use a creative grading method to help prevent erosion while improving accessibility. Our experienced landscaping staff accomplished this successfully by converting the slop into terraced gardens that added wonderful visual interest and opportunities for usable space. Finally, the exceeded the wishes of our client, effectively transition their outdoor space into a scenic get-away that blends with the beauty of the natural surrounding. The engineered selection of plants and vegetation worked fabulously well for year-round color and beauty, while the hardscape was both beautiful and usable. Our client was delighted with the landscape work as it improved their residential property’s value and improved the functionality of their outdoor space for relaxing or family gatherings both in the evening and afternoon.
