About This Project

The Wander Salon project transformed a former print shop into a modern and inviting hair salon, nestled within the unique Barnone retail space. The journey began with a comprehensive reworking of the floor plan to accommodate the new salon layout, taking into consideration the barn's distinctive structure and character. One of the most intriguing challenges was the curved wall, which became a pivotal design element in the space. To maximize functionality while maintaining aesthetic appeal, we engineered framed pop-outs for the styling stations, allowing the cabinetry to be seamlessly recessed and creating a clean, streamlined look. A standout feature of the salon is the exquisite mappa burl cabinetry, which adds a touch of sophistication and warmth to the environment. This luxurious material is beautifully contrasted by polished concrete floors, infusing the space with a vintage yet modern feel. The careful selection of beige cabinetry, coupled with stylish wallpaper and a slat wall, further enhances the salon’s ambiance. The slat wall not only serves as a design focal point but also discreetly conceals the electrical panel, marrying form with function in a clever and thoughtful way. In terms of flooring, the black and white terrazzo adds a contemporary flair that complements the overall design ethos of the salon, creating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere for clients. Every detail, from the choice of materials to the craftsmanship involved, reflects a commitment to quality and design integrity. The Wander Salon now stands as a testament to creativity and meticulous planning, offering a space that is not only beautiful but also highly functional. This project, completed in 2021 with a budget ranging from $75,001 to $100,000, showcases the potential of transforming a unique space into a vibrant salon that caters to the modern client in Phoenix.
