About This Project

The U-Club Home Facelift in Baton Rouge, LA, transformed a charming residence into a modern haven that aligns beautifully with the clients' design aesthetics. The project capitalized on the home’s strong structural foundation while introducing thoughtful updates. In the kitchen, the existing cypress cabinets, which boasted a pleasing wood look, were refinished to enhance their appeal. Complementing this upgrade, we replaced the flooring and repainted the walls, creating a fresh backdrop for new countertops, a sleek sink faucet, and a stylish backsplash. The original island, with its raised bar, was reconfigured to better suit the clients' needs for additional seating. By removing the raised back and extending the island with a new cabinet, we ensured ample space for gatherings, while choosing a lighter finish for the island cabinets added a striking contrast without compromising cohesion, as the same countertop was retained throughout. In the living area, we addressed outdated features, including an old colonial-style column and various ceiling soffits and crown molding that separated the living and dining spaces. These elements were modernized by replacing the column with a refined wooden post and wrapping the soffits in rustic wood beams, further enhancing the open feel of the space. The fireplace, originally adorned with an ornate mantelpiece, underwent a sleek transformation with a repaint and new tiling, achieving a minimalist yet elegant design. To unify the aesthetic, a wooden wraparound mantel was installed above the fireplace. Additionally, we enhanced the area adjacent to the fireplace by replacing an old display cabinet with custom wood floating shelves and a bespoke countertop on the base cabinets below. The consistent dark brown finish of the wood elements throughout the kitchen and living-dining space ties the design together, resulting in a harmonious flow and a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the clients' personal style.
