The Langstraat Residence stands as a remarkable testament to the harmonious blend of history and modern design, achieved through a thoughtful remodeling of a 100+ year-old farmhouse in Lynden, WA. The project commenced in 2021 with a vision to preserve the farmhouse's rich heritage while enhancing its functionality and aesthetic appeal for contemporary living. CLT collaborated closely with the Langstraat family to ensure that each design choice reflected both the home's legacy and their personal style. The remodel involved extensive renovations to the existing structure, with key additions that transformed the living experience. A new entryway was introduced, leading into a spacious great room that serves as the heart of the home, designed to accommodate family gatherings and social events. The dining room and kitchen were reimagined with an emphasis on open-concept living, featuring high-quality materials such as reclaimed wood for flooring and custom cabinetry that echoes the farmhouse’s rustic charm. The loft area adds an inviting retreat, perfect for relaxation or as a workspace. In addition to the main house renovations, a new garage and mother-in-law suite were constructed, providing versatility and privacy for guests or extended family. The design incorporates a wrap-around porch that enhances the farmhouse's classic silhouette while offering a serene outdoor space for enjoying the surrounding landscape. A central courtyard was also introduced, creating a cohesive flow between the various components of the residence.
