About This Project

DabneyCollins `MOUNTAIN RETREAT` Set high in the hills of upstate South Carolina, the 'Mountain Retreat' is a beautiful representation of the craft of DabneyCollins serving the quiet spaces of Anderson, Greenville and the surrounding areas. This was seen as a way of converting a bush block into a peaceful retreat that would blend into its natural environment. Initially, we dissected the landscape, inspecting soil types, drainage, and foliage. Our vision included several layers of native plants, drought-resistant shrubs, and flowering perennials to define garden edges and preserve a sustainable, low-effort ecosystem. Structural stone following the natural flow line from the lake to the oceanFinally, we built beautiful, locally sourced stone retaining walls that not only serve a structural purpose but also become an amazing visual anchor of the property. Curvilinear pathways comprised of flagstone beckon for adventure as boulders are placed judiciously to promote a more natural appeal. Dealing with the steep slope was one of the biggest challenges, finding creative ways to grade and drain it to minimize erosion and direct water. Our crew faced these challenges with skill, using less common methods to create a stable slope without large, unnatural fortifications detracting from the beauty of the site. It is indeed a nature and design inspired product with one of the most amazing water feature that not only dazzles under the sun but also provide its sound of wisdom in the form of gushing water that cascades as it flows down into the decorated pond as the end result that was beyond our client satisfaction. The Mountain Retreat has transitioned from just a domicile to a complete sanctuary, serving as an ideal space for leisure and entertainment. Due to our craftmanship we have created a landscape that not only increases property value but brings joy in the life of its inhabitants. And so, because at DabneyCollins we pride ourselves on realizing visions, the Mountain Retreat is one of our successes.
