The Caton Co-op project represents a meticulous design-build renovation that breathes new life into a historic prewar building in Brooklyn, NY. Our objective was to strip away decades of finishes, revealing the authentic materials that define the character of this midcentury residence. This approach not only honors the building's original aesthetic but also lays the groundwork for a harmonious blend of past and present. The design choices throughout the space were thoughtfully curated to complement the existing features, with a cohesive palette that highlights the beauty of cherry wood and brick-scale tile. Custom built-ins were crafted with precision, optimizing the limited space available throughout the apartment while ensuring ergonomic functionality. In the kitchen, innovative millwork was employed to effectively conceal appliances, creating a clean and streamlined appearance. This bespoke cabinetry also provides specialized storage solutions, making the kitchen both practical and stylish. The bedroom underwent a significant transformation with the introduction of built-in wardrobes that replace the inefficient closets of the past.
