About This Project

Brief: Margarido House, LEED Platinum, Oakland Hills DPG Pavers and Design is excited to share the Margarido House , an incredible landscape renovation located in the beautiful Oakland Hills. This particular house is LEED Platinum certified, which called for an environmentally conscious design approach. The team formulated a design that was equally sustainable and beautiful. The involved a carefully considered plant palette of native plants that thrive in the local climate, presenting an environmentally responsible design due to their low water usage while maintaining biodiversity. DPG used permeable pavers in the driveway and walkways to manage stormwater runoff. The paths were adorned with bright colored ground covers to create an inviting space while still being true to the natural beauty of the site. A major consideration of this was how to integrate a sustainable landscape into the existing slope. The DPG team designed garden beds into the hillside, helping to create a landscape that felt connected to the house, while trickling layer of gardens into the hillside added a visual appeal along with areas for planting. DPG also used natural stone for the retaining walls, all of which provide stability, allow for planting, and blend seamlessly into the landscape and architecture. Overall, the final product transformed a desolate area into a beautiful outdoor living area. The outdoor living area, along with the custom built fire pit with seating made from a weather resistant material allows the homeowners to have guests over and enjoy their spectacular view while being environmentally sensitive. The final result of the is a lively, sustainable landscape that does more than simply meet the client's objectives. The Margarido House is a stunning example of DPG Pavers and Design’s value of quality workmanship, innovative design, and environmental consciousness.
