The Modern Art Deco project revitalized a charming 1930s home in Minneapolis, transforming a claustrophobic kitchen into an expansive culinary haven that seamlessly marries vintage elegance with contemporary functionality. Understanding the client's passion for cooking and their partner's love for entertaining, we approached the redesign with a vision that respects the home's historical character while infusing it with modern conveniences. We began by opening up the kitchen space, eliminating barriers that previously confined movement and light. This redesign created an inviting atmosphere that encourages social interaction, making it the heart of the home. Continuous countertops were installed, delineating various zones for preparation, baking, cooking, and everyday activities, allowing for a harmonious workflow during both intimate meals and large gatherings. To improve the overall layout, we thoughtfully extended the back of the house, creating a dedicated hallway that ensured the bathroom no longer opened directly into the kitchen.
