OF Strom Bay Maples Wild California Gardens Location: San JoseCalifornia Aquascape: The 'Strom' landscaping is located in the lively urban hub of San Jose, and exemplifies just the sort of artistry and craftsmanship that Bay Maples Wild California Gardens is well-known for. This beautiful reimagined a small backyard to reflect the vibrant ecosystems found throughout California. With 'Strom', the design included quite the challenge of using drought resistant native plants, straying away from normal aesthetic practices that in fact are not sustainable. There were bright succulents, California fuchsia, ornamental grasses that we could pick because the climate is so favorable and able to draw pollinators as well. Locally harvested flagstone was used to construct a large stone path that crisscrosses through the garden, allowing ample opportunity for exploration of the . Our expert masons laid each stone with care, producing a smooth contour that links one area of the garden to another. In a bid to enhance the peaceful vibe, a calm water feature, which emulated the sounds of nature, was also incorporated. Perhaps the biggest hurdle we needed to climb over was how uneven the land of the property was. Tiered Garden DesignRetaining walls built of salvaged wood were designed, offering both stability and a rustic touch to the landscape. The end result was a functional and aesthetically pleasing combination that provides multiple seating areas where visitors can relax and enjoy the nature around them.
