The Bloomingdale Bathroom Update represents a transformative journey from an outdated space to a modern oasis, meticulously crafted to meet both aesthetic and functional needs. This project was inspired by a long-standing desire to revitalize the upstairs bathroom, which had been neglected since the purchase of the home in 2009. With the completion of the St. Dominic project, the time had finally come to embark on this exciting renovation. The project commenced with a comprehensive demolition, stripping the bathroom down to the studs to ensure a fresh start. The removal of old plaster and lath enabled the installation of new insulation, significantly enhancing energy efficiency. The layout was thoughtfully reconfigured, necessitating the adjustment of plumbing for the new tub and toilet. The leveling of walls and floors set the stage for the installation of beautiful tile, which not only elevates the design but also improves functionality. Choosing a palette of whites for the walls and fixtures contributed to the illusion of a larger space, making the bathroom feel open and inviting. The installation of a new tub, toilet, and faucet set added modern convenience, while recessed lighting and a new light/vent fixture ensured that the space remains bright and airy. A stunning cedar plank ceiling was introduced, infusing warmth and character into the design. Craftsmanship was key throughout this update, from the meticulous grout sealing on the heated slate floor to the careful installation of door hardware and trim. Functional elements such as hooks, towel bars, and an under-counter ledge for everyday essentials were seamlessly integrated into the design, enhancing usability without compromising style.
