Step into the rejuvenation of a 1956 Golden Valley home, once owned by the clients’ mothers and now transformed under their ownership with a much-needed kitchen remodel. The original kitchen presented numerous challenges, including a lack of countertop storage, outdated cabinets adorned with black hinges and handles, and the typical soffits characteristic of the 1950s, which contributed to a sterile ambiance. Driven by their passion for the outdoors and gardening, the homeowners selected earthy green cabinets from Crystal Cabinets that seamlessly blend with the natural sanctuary just beyond their back do. The addition of a black glaze over the green cabinetry, complemented by walnut accents, infused the space with warmth and character, achieving the cozy, inviting vibe the homeowners envisioned. Functionality was a key priority in this remodel, leading to the introduction of a spacious center island ideal for entertaining their grandchildren. Top-of-the-line Subzero and Wolf appliances were seamlessly integrated into the design, alongside customized storage solutions tailored to the homeowners’ specific culinary needs. To enhance the overall aesthetic, soffits were removed, a closet with a vent stack was repurposed, and the existing vinyl floor was replaced with hardwood that harmonizes with the adjoining living room. The homeowners’ collection of brass kitchenware found an elegant showcase in a traditional hutch featuring opaque seedy glass doors, adding a sophisticated touch to the space. Every detail reflects the homeowners’ down-to-earth personalities, from hand-selecting a granite stone slab reminiscent of their favorite landscape in Duluth to a stunning glazed ceramic tile backsplash that extends to the ceiling. Local artisan Bicycle Glass contributed unique wall sconces and pendant lighting, with blown glass orbs softening sightlines throughout the room. A gold and black brilliance kitchen faucet with a textured handle adds a playful yet refined touch, rounding out a space that is both highly functional and rich in character, perfect for family gatherings and culinary adventures.
