The Historic Renovation Camelback & Attic Master Bedroom Addition in the vibrant Marigny area of New Orleans is a striking example of how thoughtful design can breathe new life into a cherished residence. The renovation included gutting the first floor and converting a rear shed into inviting guest quarters, creating a seamless blend of historic charm and contemporary comfort. To expand the living space, a rear Camelback addition was introduced, along with a beautifully designed Attic Master Suite. One of the focal points of this renovation was the installation of six skylights in the front attic, strategically placed in two banks of three on either side of the gable roof. These skylights were set in deep wells, allowing for increased headroom in the master bedroom while flooding the space with natural light, enhancing the overall ambiance. In the first-floor parlor, the ceiling height was thoughtfully reduced from 12 feet to 10 feet, a decision that not only optimized headroom for the new master bathroom but also created a cozy atmosphere in the living area.
