About This Project

The Oak Meadow project transformed an existing unused barn into a welcoming living space designed for the client's mother-in-law, who enjoys summers with the family and winters in a different state. This innovative conversion began with the meticulous removal of the existing concrete floor, allowing for the installation of essential plumbing and electrical systems, as well as insulation beneath the slab. A vapor barrier was also put in place, along with a radon mitigation system, ensuring a safe and healthy environment. Following the foundational work, our team focused on creating a comfortable and efficient living space. We installed a ceiling air barrier to enhance energy efficiency, complemented by new windows that provide natural light and improve the home's overall aesthetic. The exterior received a complete re-siding, which not only updated the barn's appearance but also added an additional layer of insulation. Inside, this home now boasts a spacious layout, designed to accommodate both guests and the various crafting projects that the client enjoys. The design choices reflect a blend of functionality and style, with an emphasis on comfort and usability. The mechanical systems incorporated into the home are state-of-the-art, featuring highly efficient mini-splits from Bryant that ensure optimal heating and cooling throughout the year. Additionally, an Energy Recovery Ventilator from Broan enhances indoor air quality, while a Heat Pump Water Heater by Rheem/Richmond provides sustainable hot water solutions. The outcome of the Oak Meadow project is a beautifully crafted home that not only meets the specific needs of its inhabitants but also showcases a commitment to energy efficiency and modern design. This inviting space stands as a testament to thoughtful renovation, blending the charm of the original barn structure with contemporary comforts, making it a perfect retreat for family gatherings and creative endeavors.
