The Beverly Residence kitchen renovation transformed a cramped and oddly shaped space into a modern culinary haven. Originally remodeled years ago, the 1912 Shorewood house’s kitchen was limited in functionality and aesthetics. Collaborating closely with the homeowner, we devised a comprehensive design strategy that reimagined the kitchen’s layout and enhanced its usability. The renovation began with stripping the kitchen down to its studs, allowing for a fresh approach to the space. Key structural changes included the removal of an existing door and the repositioning of walls to accommodate a large kitchen island, which serves as a central feature of the room. The island is adorned with custom stained cabinetry and a striking black quartz countertop, creating a beautiful contrast against the surrounding white cabinetry and countertops. This design choice not only enhances visual appeal but also optimizes the functionality of the kitchen, making it an enjoyable space for cooking and entertaining. To further amplify the sense of openness, we enlarged the doorway to the family room, fostering a seamless flow between the two spaces. A thoughtfully designed built-in bench along the east wall takes advantage of the natural light, providing a cozy nook for relaxing or enjoying a meal. The preservation of the original birch-wood flooring, which was carefully restored and stained to match the rest of the first floor, adds warmth and character, bridging the old and new elements of the home. The finished kitchen exemplifies high-end craftsmanship and modern design, with every detail meticulously considered to meet the homeowner's vision. This renovation not only revitalizes the heart of the home but also enhances its overall value, making it a perfect blend of style and practicality.
