The Sunken Kitchen gets UPLIFTED project is a remarkable transformation that enhances both functionality and aesthetics in a Baton Rouge home, specifically designed with aging in place in mind. The homeowners aimed to create a seamless flow throughout their living space, which led to the decision to eliminate the multi-level flooring and replace it with a consistently level surface. This thoughtful choice not only ensures safety but also allows for easier navigation, significantly improving the overall accessibility of the home. A major highlight of this renovation is the reimagined kitchen layout. By opening up the kitchen to create multiple paths of travel, the space feels more inviting and connected to the rest of the home. The previously non-functioning wet bar has been skillfully transformed into a much-needed butler's pantry, complete with modern wet bar amenities. This conversion effectively maximizes storage and functionality while maintaining a cohesive design. The materials chosen for this project play a crucial role in unifying the kitchen and pantry. The stone countertops and backsplash from the kitchen elegantly extend into the butler's pantry, creating a harmonious transition between the two areas.
