The Pylesville Two Island Kitchen project is a stunning transformation that beautifully balances functionality and aesthetic appeal, tailored specifically for a dedicated baker. Located in Pylesville, MD, this project, initiated in 2024 with a budget between $150,001 and $200,000, involved a comprehensive redesign that prioritized an open and airy atmosphere, essential for both culinary creativity and family gatherings. By removing the original kitchen cabinets and the adjoining wall to the dining room, we created a spacious environment awash with natural light. The design features Wellborn white shaker-style cabinets, which lend a timeless elegance to the space, complemented by light natural Quartzite countertops that provide durability and sophistication. The kitchen is equipped with Monogram stainless steel appliances, ensuring top-notch performance for all baking endeavors while enhancing the modern aesthetic of the space. Lighting played a crucial role in this design, with multiple ceiling lights, under-cabinet lighting, and motion-activated toe-kick lighting incorporated to ensure the kitchen remains bright and welcoming at all times. A custom island fixture adds a unique touch, further illuminating the heart of the kitchen. The oversized island was thoughtfully designed to meet the client’s need for ample countertop space, accommodating several cookie sheets simultaneously, while also providing comfortable seating for five, making it an ideal spot for family gatherings and casual meals. The new slate flooring seamlessly integrates with the existing white oak floors, creating a cohesive flow throughout the home. Fresh paint colors were selected to enhance the inviting palette, ensuring that the kitchen feels warm and welcoming. This project not only meets the functional requirements of a busy baker but also creates a stylish and inviting space that the whole family can enjoy.
