The Waterford Farmhouse Revival is a remarkable restoration project that breathes new life into a circa 1749 farmhouse nestled on two and a half picturesque acres in Waterford, Virginia. Our clients embraced the challenge of revitalizing a home that had endured the test of time, characterized by structural irregularities and outdated renovations. The project commenced in 2022 with the aim of harmonizing modern living with the farmhouse's historic charm, allowing the original character to shine through while incorporating contemporary amenities that meet 21st-century standards. The design process started with addressing the farmhouse's unique quirks, including leaning walls and misaligned doors. A simplified kitchen layout was proposed, focusing on functionality and ease of movement, which also allowed for a seamless flow into the dining and outdoor living areas. In the heart of the home, we featured traditional materials such as reclaimed wood and handcrafted cabinetry that echo the farmhouse's storied past while providing modern utility. Attention to detail was paramount throughout the renovation. Our skilled craftsmen meticulously restored original features, including charming fireplace mantels and exposed beams, ensuring they remained focal points of the interi. The bathroom design exemplified this commitment to quality, featuring vintage-inspired fixtures, elegant tile work, and a soothing color palette that evokes a sense of tranquility and sophistication. To enhance the outdoor experience, we created a stunning outdoor living space ideal for family gatherings and meals, complete with a rustic patio that integrates seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.
