The Haith House, an award-winning new home build located in Asheville, NC, is a stunning example of modern design and innovative construction techniques. Recognized with both the Silver Craftsmanship Award and the Green Innovation Award at the 2025 WNC Parade of Homes, this project stands as a testament to thoughtful design that embraces sustainability while delivering contemporary comfort. Originally conceived with a more complex architectural plan, the project faced significant challenges due to the site's history as a dumping ground, resulting in unsuitable soil conditions. This necessitated a reimagined approach that maintained a sense of spaciousness and modernity within a modest footprint measuring just 24 feet wide by 32 feet deep. One of the defining features of the Haith House is its pioneering use of a prefabricated, panelized construction system, a first for our office. This innovative method allowed for rapid vertical assembly of the home, transforming the site within just a few days. While the installation required precise adjustments, the outcome was a remarkable balance of efficiency and aesthetic appeal. The home is insulated beyond code requirements, ensuring energy efficiency and comfort throughout the seasons. The interior design reflects a harmonious blend of natural materials and modern aesthetics, exemplified by the striking wooden staircase that serves as a focal point. Sustainably milled steps rise gracefully against exposed wood panel walls, illuminated by an abundance of natural light streaming through the two-story floor-to-ceiling windows. This design choice not only enhances the home’s visual appeal but also creates an inviting atmosphere that brings the outdoors in. The Haith House is more than just a residence; it is a symbol of modern living that prioritizes environmental responsibility without compromising on style or comfort.
