Belle Haven Property By: Martha Baker Landscape Design Located in the tranquil neighborhood of Belle Haven, Martha Baker Landscape Design achieved a remarkable renovation that combined beauty and practicality in the landscape. This renovation was a total overhaul to improve the intrinsic beauty of the property and provide the homeowners with a peaceful outdoor experience. One of the main aspects of the included a multi-tiered garden of native plants that bloom during different seasons. Stone pathways were constructed from Connecticut bluestone to connect outdoor spaces. Each pathway was deliberately designed to lead guests from one outdoor area to another through flower beds, ornamental grasses, and a variety of shrubs that provide interest year-round. The property had a steep topography, which was constructed with reclaimed granite retaining walls. These walls not only served an aesthetic purpose, but they also provided support for the terraced garden areas that provided opportunities for relaxation and entertaining. A charming evening patio area was constructed in natural stone pavers with a built-in fire pit, making a perfect gathering space for the homeowners and guests. Water features were also integrated into the design of the garden, including a pond with native ferns and a gentle waterfall that were designed to provide a relaxing experience. Quality materials were considered, such as locally sourced wood for the pergola and weather resisting furnishings, that would endure and require less maintenance for the homeowners. The end result was an immersive and amazing landscape that exceeded the clients' expectations and made the current outdoor areas livable. Through thoughtful conversation, planning, and craftsmanship, Martha Baker Landscape Design created a cohesive and welcoming space that strengthens the connection of the property to the natural environment and seasonality, enhancing the beauty and enjoyment of the Belle Haven Property.
