The Green Lake House project involved a transformative collaboration between homeowners Steve and Mindy and Coates Design, taking place in the picturesque setting of Seattle, WA. Initially, construction was already underway when the couple engaged Coates Design to enhance the interior and exterior detailing of their home. The original open floor plan of the house was a strong selling point, yet the couple recognized the potential to tailor the space to reflect their modern aesthetic. As both are employed by Amazon, Steve and Mindy sought a streamlined design process that allowed for simultaneous construction and customization. Central to the project was the reimagining of the living room to create a seamless transition to the outdoor living area. The original architectural plan featured two large, punched sliding doors, which were reconfigured to open the space more dramatically to the backyard patio.
