About This Project

The Tandem Garage, affectionately referred to as "The Cathedral," represents a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal, designed to meet the specific needs of our clients in Fairway, KS. Faced with the challenge of limited space due to existing site conditions and setback regulations, our team strategically opted for a tandem garage configuration. This choice not only maximized the available area but also introduced an attached storage room, providing the homeowners with essential additional space. The design of the garage is characterized by its vaulted interior, which creates an open and airy atmosphere. To enhance the natural light within the space, we incorporated a series of strategically placed windows and skylights. These features not only illuminate the interior but also provide a visual connection to the outdoors, making the garage feel like a seamless extension of the home. The clean lines and minimalist approach to the interior design ensure that the space remains clutter-free, allowing for easy organization and use. A significant element of this project is the large steel beam that runs through the structure, providing necessary structural support while simultaneously defining the garage area. This beam was thoughtfully integrated into the design, contributing to the overall aesthetic without compromising the open feel of the space. Custom collar ties were utilized to further support the vaulted ceiling, maintaining the visual integrity of the interior while ensuring durability and stability. Ultimately, the Tandem Garage serves not just as a functional parking area but also as an extension of the patio and covered outdoor space, enhancing the overall livability of the property.
