In the heart of Dayton, Ohio, a charming 1910 dining room underwent a remarkable transformation with the addition of a custom-designed Plain & Fancy Built In Buffet, expertly crafted by Kelly Zamonski of The Kitchen Place. This project was born from the realization that an empty nook in the dining area was crying out for a beautifully integrated cabinet, enhancing both functionality and aesthetic appeal. The design process focused on creating a seamless piece that would not only fit the space perfectly but also serve as a focal point in the room. The built-in buffet measures approximately 66 inches wide, 21 inches deep, and 40 inches tall, embodying a thoughtful balance of scale and proportion within the dining room. Crafted from high-quality Plain & Fancy custom cabinetry, the buffet features two deep drawers at the base, providing ample storage for linens and serving essentials. Above, four elegantly designed doors offer the perfect display for fine china, marrying practicality with sophistication. A key design choice was the decision to have the cabinet go flush to the floor, eliminating the need for a toekick. This detail not only maximizes the available space but also contributes to a clean, polished look that complements the traditional character of the home. Adding to its allure, the buffet is topped with a matching wood, painted countertop that is both functional and visually striking. Kelly incorporated discreet outlets into the design, allowing for buffet lamps to be conveniently placed, enhancing the dining experience during gatherings and celebrations. The choice of Top Knobs hardware, although discontinued, adds a touch of elegance and refinement to the overall design. The outcome of this project is a stunning built-in buffet that harmonizes with the traditional dining room, providing a perfect blend of style, storage, and functionality. It stands as a testament to exceptional craftsmanship and thoughtful design, ensuring that this dining space is both inviting and practical for years to come.
