About This Project

Darien Stone Shingle Elise Landscapes & Nursery, LLC is excited to share the 'Darien Stone Shingle' , an excellent example of the creativity and craftsmanship of our landscape crew. Set in the heart of Darien, the aimed to amplify the existing landscape while creating a practical and sustainable landscape. The focal point of this is a custom stone shingle pathway, constructed with locally sourced bluestone, which provides a durable and attractive avenue for pedestrians. Lining the path, we also incorporated native and ornamental plantings consisting of perennials and grasses, chosen to endure and provide interest all season long. The plant material not only makes the landscape visually appealing but also creates an ecosystem that supports biodiversity. Our team had to deal with the challenges the uneven land exposed, which required creative grading to create a seamless transition. The innovation of our crew in advanced landscaping practices guaranteed we maintained the proper grade for drainage and erosion control, while preserving the natural shape of the land. Also included in this was the construction of a rain garden that we custom-designed to manage stormwater runoff. This environmentally-friendly practice not only works hand-in-hand with our environmental responsibility, but it also adds a splash of color in the form of flowering plants for pollinators to utilize. The final outcome of the 'Darien Stone Shingle' was a functional yet aesthetically pleasing landscape design that our clients were delighted with. They can now enjoy a beautiful outdoor space that is both inviting and sustainable by hosting family and friends.
