This converted a dated backyard into a modern retreat while balancing function and aesthetic. The new design includes a large outdoor living space featuring an intimate custom patio constructed of high-quality natural stone pavers that aligns with the coastal environment. The stunning water feature is a sleek, modern fountain that serves as a calming focal point in the space. The drought-resistant plant selection and new plant placement were selected and executed to provide natural beauty throughout the seasons with less water use - a sustainable approach. One significant challenge before the design team was the slope of the yard and building codes for drainage accessibility. As a solution, tiered garden beds were constructed to maximize the slope in the design while adding height to the landscape. Furthermore, the quality of the selected materials, such as reclaimed wood raised planters and irrigation system, reflect the designers' sense of style and craftsmanship. In the end, the client was obviously satisfied with the end design.
