The Trader Office Addition is a meticulously designed 500 square foot space that enhances a traditional log house, providing a unique retreat for contemplation and creativity. The clients, passionate art collectors, sought a tranquil study away from the bustle of their home, which often hosts family and friends. This addition serves not only as a workspace but also as a gallery for their cherished art pieces, including a prominent outdoor sculpture that blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Positioned on a stunning butte overlooking Jackson Hole, the design of the pavilion thoughtfully engages with its environment, balancing the warmth of shelter with the expansive views of the valley. The architectural approach incorporates an open-L shape formed by robust rammed earth walls that define the southern and eastern boundaries. These walls not only provide thermal mass and natural insulation but also serve as a canvas for the horizontal slot windows that punctuate them, offering carefully framed vistas of the breathtaking landscape beyond. To the north, a full wall of glass invites the outside in, creating an immersive experience that blurs the lines between interior and exterior spaces.
