Blackjack Gardens, Inc. is a Birmingham-based company named after the Blackjack Ridge area of Birmingham, Alabama. Originally started as a family business, it was established in 1998. The company takes its name from the numerous Blackjack Oak trees that are found on this ridge in northeast Jefferson County. Since formation, Blackjack Gardens, Inc. incorporated many divisions including a casual high-end furniture company, horse riding club (equestrian), horticulture division, and an organically grown produce company. In 2004 the horticulture division was separated to form an independent entity named Blackjack Horticulture, Inc. which is currently owned by Bryan Word, who has been part of the company since the company's inception. Blackjack Horticulture is a full-service landscape contracting company that provides all aspects of landscape installation and construction, landscape maintenance, landscaping services (such as floriculture), and masonry for both residential and commercial properties. Throughout the years, both Blackjack Gardens, and more recently Blackjack Horticulture, remain committed to providing excellent service to all of their clients, by building long-term relationships, while providing exceptional work, and most of their original clients are still receiving service from both companies today.
