My husband and I own a landscape business together. We predominantly do landscape design. However, we also dabble in retaining walls, patios and some home repairs as well. I have been doing this as a hobby since I was about 10 years old; my parents always had a garden that was roughly an acre of almost every vegetable possible! My favourite is perennial flowers. I have had people stop while driving past me "playing in the dirt" and comment that I have the most beautiful flowers in the neighbourhood. Our business has continued to grow solely through "word of mouth" - no advertising whatsoever. We now get calls from people as far away as other counties. Last year, our biggest job was the planting of 550 saplings in early December. We will continue to work on this property as soon as the weather is conducive. For me, it is unarguably a labour of love! Even though I work full-time (besides this), I still do landscaping.
