Details

3-Pack Filter Cartridges:

  • This pack includes 3 filter cartridges designed for replacement in your filtering system. They aid in preserving the life of your pump and enhancing the performance of your freeze dryer.

First Use:

  • Remove the cartridge packaging and place the cartridge into the cartridge holder of the Harvest Right filter, gripping the top.
  • Firmly press the cartridge into place until it forms a secure seal.

Maintenance Note:

  • Cartridges should be replaced after approximately 15-20 uses, or sooner, depending on the quality of the oil.

Oil Filtration Directions:

  1. Open the oil reservoir drain valve and allow the oil to drain into your oil filter. Ensure all oil is drained by slightly lifting the rear of the vacuum pump.
  2. Wait for the oil to filter through your filtration system.
  3. Small amounts of water accumulate in the oil with each batch. After filtration, the water and oil will separate, with water sinking to the bottom and oil floating on top.
  4. Remove the water from the oil by pouring off the oil and discarding the water. Do not pour the water back into the vacuum pump to prevent damage.
  5. Pour the filtered (or new) oil into your vacuum pump.

How to Determine Cleanliness of Filtered Oil:

  • Cleanliness indicators include:
    • Oil being free of debris or particulates.
    • Oil not appearing milky or chalky.
    • Oil having clarity (yellow or amber color with clarity).
    • Your vacuum pump achieving a suitable pressure (mTorr) for freeze drying.

How to Know When to Replace the Oil Filter:

  • Signs for replacement include:
    • Oil not draining through the filter (which can occur as debris builds up).
    • Oil not cleaning effectively (e.g., remaining milky or containing debris).
