Amblyseius cucumeris is a predatory mite that feeds on a wide range of small arthropod prey. Besides small thrips and mites it will prey on spider mites, but does not offer significant control. Because Amblyseius cucumeris is small, it feeds only on the smaller thrips larvae and cannot attack large larvae or adults. For best results it is necessary to have as many predatory mites present as possible to prevent thrips larvae reaching maturity.
