Description

Monterey B.T. Bacillus Thuringiensis (B.T.) Biological Insecticide prevents the destructive activities of harmful insects, including worms and caterpillars, that end up damaging the plants. It is safe to apply it to fruits, vegetables, ornamentals and shade trees and therefore applies well to every garden. This insecticide is OMRI Listed, which means that it meets organic gardening requirements. And the user can even use it the day before the harvest on the edible crops.

How it Works

Monterey B.T. has a type of bacteria referred to as Bacillus thuringiensis. When caterpillars or worms feed on the sprayed leaves, the bacterium interferes with their digestive tract and thus they lose interest in feeding and ultimately they die. It only affects the insects that consume those treated leaves and is not harmful to other creatures such as birds and bees.

How to Use

For best results, follow these simple instructions:

  1. Mixing the Concentrate: If using the concentrate, mix 2 fluid ounces of Monterey B.T. with 3 gallons of water.
  2. Apply to Plants: Rub the mixture on the leaves of the plant (both sides of the leaves).
  3. Repeat Applications: Reapply the insecticide every 5 to 7 days, especially after rain or watering.
  4. Best Timing: This can be done early in the morning or late in the evening so that the user will not kill useful insects.

Ideal Plants

Monterey B.T. is great for a wide range of plants. Here are some examples of where users can use it:

  • Fruits and Vegetables: It is good in tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, lettuce and melons.
  • Ornamentals: Safe to use on flowers, shrubs, and other decorative plants.
  • Shade Trees: This tree helps safeguard trees such as oak, maple, pines etc. against attacking pests.
  • Lawns: It is capable of controlling pests such as armyworms in grassy areas.

Environmental and Safety Considerations

Monterey B.T. is a biological product and therefore it is eco-friendly. There are three things that users need to know:

  • Non-Toxic: Monterey B.T. is non-toxic to people, pets, and beneficial insects when the user applies it according to directions.
  • Harmless to Beneficial Insects: It is not harmful to the pollinators such as bees and other beneficial insects in the garden.
  • Breaks Down Naturally: Monterey B.T. is biodegradable and therefore it does not cause toxic effects on the environment.

Available Sizes and Packaging

The Monterey B.T. Bacillus Thuringiensis Biological Insecticide is available in various sizes so users can choose the convenient one:

  • 16 oz Concentrate: Ideal for small to medium-sized gardens.
  • 32 oz Concentrate: This amount is appropriate when working with a bigger garden or when there is a big number of operations.
  • 1 Gallon Concentrate: Great for commercial use or extensive areas.
  • Ready-to-Use Spray: Convenient for spot treatment or small gardens.

Summary

Monterey B.T. is effective, safe, and natural when it comes to controlling the caterpillar and worm pest. Whether growing a vegetable, fruit crop or ornamental plants this product does not use harsh chemicals to protect crops. It is organic certified, environmentally friendly, and simple to put on. So, when interested in providing natural protection to the plants, Monterey B.T. will be an excellent option.
